Overview
Civil Marriage Registration support is an add-on advisory service for couples who are already booked with ARAYA Nikah for a nikah ceremony or related event. A nikah (religious marriage contract) and a civil marriage registration at a Thai District Office (ทะเบียนสมรส) are two separate processes with separate legal weight. Many couples want both — but the sequence in which they are done, the documents each step produces, and how those documents are later used (for visas, name changes, inheritance, or recognition in another country) can differ significantly depending on the order chosen. This add-on gives you a closer advisory touchpoint with the ARAYA team so you can plan that order deliberately, rather than by accident.
Who It’s For
This service is for couples who are already engaged with ARAYA for a Nikah or Ceremony package and who also intend to register their marriage with Thai civil authorities — whether before, after, or around the same time as the nikah. It is especially relevant for couples where one or both partners are foreign nationals, where documents may later be used outside Thailand, or where the family wants both the religious and the civil record in place. This add-on is not offered as a standalone service outside an existing ARAYA Nikah or Ceremony booking.
How It Works in Brief
Because the right order and paperwork path depend on each couple’s nationality, prior marital status, and destination-country requirements, we do not publish a fixed step list for this add-on. The first and most important step is always the same: talk to the ARAYA Nikah team before you register anything. We will go through your situation with you, flag what typically needs to happen first, and coordinate the timing so your nikah and your civil registration support each other rather than creating conflicting or duplicate records. Please treat this as advisory guidance only — final procedures, document requirements, and legal effect are determined solely by the Thai District Office (Amphoe) and, where relevant, by your embassy or destination country’s authorities, and these can change or vary by office.
