Certified Social Enterprise

A safe space for interfaith families since 2008

Since 2008, ARAYA has cared for cross-cultural Islamic marriages in Thailand as a certified social enterprise. We work hand in hand with religious organizations, law firms, attractions and hotels so that every family visiting Thailand has a safe, welcoming experience — under our Nikah Guardian Thailand framework, which screens, educates and protects women and children in every cross-cultural marriage, with no coercion, ever.

We intend that ARAYA's activities will aim to assist humanity in living together peacefully and harmoniously, even with religious differences.

Know before you plan

Two types of Nikah certificate

This is the most important decision for your Nikah in Thailand. We advise honestly which type fits your country and situation.

Type 1

For destination countries WITH Shariah law — legally-recognized Nikah

When the nikah concludes, you receive a certificate issued within Thailand's legal framework
After consular legalization it can serve as an international document — acceptance is always at the destination country's discretion
More documents and preparation time (~1 month)
Bahrain, UAE, Maldives, Libya, Kuwait: embassy permission letter required
e.g. Bahrain, UAE, Maldives, Libya, Kuwait, Malaysia — or whenever you plan to use the documents in those countries
Type 2

The option for couples from countries WITHOUT Shariah law — religious only (no legal effect)

Fully compliant with Islamic principles (Shariah)
Issued by the ARAYA Shariah Board — cannot be legalized at the Thai Consulate
Popular in countries without Shariah law — there, even a nikah document correctly issued under Thai law carries no legal effect anyway
Faster preparation, fewer restrictions — the guardian (wali) may join online
e.g. Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Canada, Australia, and most countries without Islamic law — when you need the religious ceremony only
ARAYA's role is to conduct your nikah properly within Thailand's legal framework only. The legal-route nikah certificate is issued by a state-recognized Islamic authority — it is a separate matter from Thai civil marriage registration at a district office (amphur); tell us your situation and we'll advise what you need. Whether the documents are accepted abroad is at the destination country's discretion — please check the requirements with the relevant authorities there before choosing our service. We do not do secret nikah: every marriage is public and properly documented.
"Shariah law" here means Islamic family law enforced by that country's state — document acceptance is always at the destination country's discretion; please verify with the destination authority yourself.

Learning & Shahada

A gentle 3-day path into Islam — for you and your family

You don't need to know anything about Islam before you arrive — over three gentle days we walk together, in a private space with no judgment and no pressure. Both families are welcome to sit and learn beside you, and every question is a good question — so your wedding day, your prayers, and your new family life can begin with warmth and confidence.

Learning comes with no strings attached — finishing the course never obliges you to convert or to marry. Every decision is yours, and under ARAYA's consent policy your yes must always be confirmed by you personally, in private — family or a wali may support you, but can never speak for you.

FAQ

Questions couples ask us

How many days does the Nikah process take?

The ceremony takes about 30 minutes, but set aside a full day for the process. Documents need about 1 month of preparation before you travel — the document steps after the ceremony take around 3 working days, so we recommend planning to stay around 10 days.

Is the certificate legal in my country?

The legal-route certificate is a nikah certificate from a state-recognized Islamic authority, issued within Thailand\'s legal framework — separate from Thai civil marriage registration at a district office (amphur). It can be legalized at the Thai Consulate; however, acceptance is always at the discretion of each destination country — ARAYA has no authority over legal recognition in any other country, and you must consult the authority where you plan to use the document yourself. The religious-only certificate has no legal effect. Tell us your nationality and we'll advise honestly which fits — some countries (Bahrain, UAE, Maldives, Libya, Kuwait) also require an embassy permission letter.

One of us is not Muslim yet. Can we still marry?

The Nikah requires both partners to be Muslim with official proof. If your partner is ready, they can study and convert free of charge at mosques in Thailand, or take ARAYA's private 3-day course and receive both certificates with us.

How can we trust ARAYA?

We are a certified Social Enterprise working with state-recognized religious institutions in Thailand, publicly reviewed since 2008, with a strict No Secret Nikah policy — every marriage we arrange is announced publicly on our social media.

How do we pay?

By cash, or Visa / MasterCard through Facebook Metapay after your consultation and package confirmation. A refund policy applies — ask us for the conditions in detail.

Do you serve Shia Muslims?

You are warmly welcome — we have cared for many couples from all schools of thought. ARAYA is a Sunni organization (Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah), and all services are provided under Sunni principles and Thai legal frameworks.
