Convert to Islam Online, By Yourself

ARAYA has developed a self-guided online system for converting to Islam, to make it convenient for those who want to convert to Islam in different environments and locations, allowing them to convert on their own, right away, using nothing but a mobile phone. For those who want to know the overall details of converting to Islam, you can read more in our guide article on how to convert to Islam

This self-guided online conversion to Islam is suitable for those who are firmly decided about becoming Muslim and want to confirm their religious status before God (Allah SWT) right away

Steps for self-guided online conversion to Islam

  1. Understand the meaning of the shahada before you declare it — please calm your mind and truly understand the meaning of what you will say before reciting it. We recommend starting with the free self-guided conversion course and the article How do you convert to Islam? Are there other methods?
  2. Prepare yourself — Dress neatly. For women, if you don’t yet have a headscarf, cover your hair a little if you can find something — but if you can’t, that’s fine, you can find one later after converting. You may have a friend there for support, but keep calm and composed
  3. Declare the shahada with sincere understanding — when you are ready, recite the declaration of faith with a genuine understanding of its meaning. Once you have said it in full, you are Muslim — there is no need to record or publish any photo or video. For guidance on the correct steps and wording, see the free self-guided conversion course
  4. Keep learning — after converting, we recommend continuing with the free course, and choosing a Muslim name for use within the Muslim community. See example names for Muslim women and Muslim men (these two name-reference articles are in Thai)

If you would later like an official certificate of your conversion from ARAYA, see the steps on our Convert to Islam Online, with a Certificate page — this confirms your declaration through an online conversation with staff and a mentor, and likewise does not require recording or publishing any photo or video.

Please note

  • Converting to Islam is only one part. Learning about Islam is an important part of ongoing personal and married life — when you have time, please find further places to learn about Islam
  • This document is issued by a private company, not a mosque, or mosque officials, and has no legal effect. Its use and acceptance is at the discretion of each organization and may vary; please check with the receiving party before use
  • Transitioning into Islam is a significant matter — give time to participating in social activities, and stay close to friends who offer knowledge and encouragement, and do not neglect your original family; give everyone time to adjust

If you want to learn Islam both in theory and practice, whether short-term or long-term, including how to pray, and want something friendly for multicultural families, we recommend the Islamic training course for multicultural families
