Why the More You Plan a Wedding, the More It Fails

Why the more you plan a wedding, the more it fails.
You might be surprised that someone whose job is planning weddings and giving advice on organizing them,
like me, would say something like this.

The reason is
because when our planning
tries too hard to make the wedding perfect,
our wedding ends up not being complete.

From long experience taking care of weddings,
the weddings with the most problems are the ones that were planned the most.
Why is that?
Because the plans we make are, almost entirely, based only on “what we want.”
We want the wedding to be this color, we want it to be like this, we want everyone to act like this,
and a lot of “what we want” is really just “controlling” the people around us.
And that’s exactly what makes a wedding that’s planned more and more end up failing more and more.
What matters most is that the plan should be made for everyone who comes to the event —
for the groom’s family, for the bride’s family, for friends, for close relatives and companions
who attend — for everyone who loves us and comes to share in our happiness.

But a wedding can’t go without planning at all.
It’s just that before we start planning, we need to know
what matters and what doesn’t,
we need to know what we can control and what we can’t.

Then the plan will be complete, even if it rains and thunders, even if today’s beef curry doesn’t taste as good as usual,
even if the venue raises its price and adds a corkage-style fee for bringing in outside food without warning,
even if plenty of things we can’t control don’t go the way we want,
the wedding will still be as beautiful as it should be.

I hope every couple gets to have a beautiful wedding.
How do you know if you’ve started off on the wrong track? It’s when, for our own wedding,
the first question we spend all our time and energy fussing over is “what color should our wedding be.”
That right there is a sign we’ve gone down the wrong path.

If you run into any trouble organizing your wedding and want a team to help take care of it,
feel free to reach out to Khun Nai Araya’s shop. We have a team who will help solve this
in our own way. See you next in line!
