Learn Islam, Nikah & family life — from the team that does the real work
A home for the questions couples and families bring us most: becoming Muslim, the paperwork that makes a marriage legally real, interfaith love, and everyday Muslim family life in Thailand.
Learn Islam before your marriage, privately with your family — gradual, friendly to interfaith families, concluding with your conversion and an introduction to your officiant.
Certificate of completion + certificate of conversion
A short program before Islamic marriage — strengthening families and covering Islamic law alongside Thai civil law. Friendly to new Muslims and non-Muslims.
This is the most important decision for your Nikah in Thailand. We advise honestly which type fits your country and situation.
Type 1
For destination countries WITH Shariah law — legally-recognized Nikah
When the nikah concludes, you receive a certificate issued within Thailand's legal framework
After consular legalization it can serve as an international document — acceptance is always at the destination country's discretion
More documents and preparation time (~1 month)
Bahrain, UAE, Maldives, Libya, Kuwait: embassy permission letter required
e.g. Bahrain, UAE, Maldives, Libya, Kuwait, Malaysia — or whenever you plan to use the documents in those countries
Type 2
The option for couples from countries WITHOUT Shariah law — religious only (no legal effect)
Fully compliant with Islamic principles (Shariah)
Issued by the ARAYA Shariah Board — cannot be legalized at the Thai Consulate
Popular in countries without Shariah law — there, even a nikah document correctly issued under Thai law carries no legal effect anyway
Faster preparation, fewer restrictions — the guardian (wali) may join online
e.g. Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Canada, Australia, and most countries without Islamic law — when you need the religious ceremony only
ⓘARAYA's role is to conduct your nikah properly within Thailand's legal framework only. The legal-route nikah certificate is issued by a state-recognized Islamic authority — it is a separate matter from Thai civil marriage registration at a district office (amphur); tell us your situation and we'll advise what you need. Whether the documents are accepted abroad is at the destination country's discretion — please check the requirements with the relevant authorities there before choosing our service. We do not do secret nikah: every marriage is public and properly documented.
✦"Shariah law" here means Islamic family law enforced by that country's state — document acceptance is always at the destination country's discretion; please verify with the destination authority yourself.
